Sunnybrook Volunteer Association is a FINALIST in the RCC 2015 Retail Award for Philanthropy

1 June 2015

Congratulations to our friends at Sunnybrook Volunteer Association in Toronto, ON!  They are a finalist for the Retail Council of Canada 2015 Excellence in Retailing Awards in the Philanthropic Leadership Category!!  For 18 years, Retail Council of Canada has been celebrating outstanding achievement in Canadian retail with this prestigious awards program.  As one of Sunnybrook's suppliers, we are well pleased to hear that they have been recognized for this honour.  The proceeds from their gift shop sales help benefit patient comfort and care at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.

We would like to share their letter with you and if you know this great group of people, give them a big congratulations that is well deserved!

"Dear Friends, Suppliers, and Supporters of the SVA Gift Shops and Sunnybrook Volunteer Association,

I am thrilled to let you know that we have been notified by the Retail Council of Canada (RCC), that the Sunnybrook Volunteer Association  IS A FINALIST in the RCC 2015 Retail Award for Philanthropy.

“The Philanthropic Leadership Award recognizes a retailer-initiated program that demonstrates a creative response, active collaboration and successful fulfillment of community needs.” Our submission highlighted the many patient care and comfort activities that the SVA undertakes each year that are funded by our many retail business initiatives, as well as our President’s Innovation Fund pledge that was used to replace the patient Staxi’s this year.

The RCC is a not-for-profit, industry-funded association representing more than 45,000 store fronts of all retail formats across Canada, including department, specialty, discount, and independent stores, and online merchants. While we  have no idea how many entries they received, just getting to this point is a wonderful achievement.

The award winner will be announced at a gala dinner on June 2nd. We’ll let you know the results as soon after as possible.

Please join me in thanking all our staff and many volunteers that work with us that make all that we do possible.  Many thanks also to our supportive suppliers and sales reps whose industry expertise, enthusiasm, and great product selection are a big part of our success.

Warmest Regards,
Amy"
