We are in the Smithsonian
There are those retail locations – that due to their prestigious name – are places you want your product being sold. Last month, we finally placed our games into a Smithsonian gift store. More specifically, ‘American Trivia Family Edition’ board game was placed in the museum shop at the Smithsonian’s American History Museum.
Founded back in 1846, the Smithsonian Institution operates several museums, zoos, and research facilities across the United States. The Smithsonian Institution is currently the largest museum complex in the world. Many of its buildings are historical and architectural landmarks. Having our board games and card games in its gift stores is certainly a good thing!
One of the reasons our games made it past the selection committee was our ‘Made in America’ commitment.
With the unemployment rate still stubbornly high in the manufacturing sector, and increased publicity on where things are being manufactured (just think about the controversy swirling around the US Olympic uniforms being manufactured in China), both retailers and consumers are looking for more ‘Made in America’ product.
Congressman Steve Israel summed it up, “Today there are 600,000 vacant manufacturing jobs in this country and the Olympic committee is outsourcing the manufacturing of uniforms to China? That is not just outrageous, it’s just plain dumb.”
What do you think? How important is ‘Made in America’ product to you?
