Game company Outset Media named one of fastest growing companies in Canada for third consecutive year

Victoria, BC, June 6, 2005 – Game company Outset Media was named one of Canada’s fastest-growing businesses for the third year in a row today. The independent game maker and distributor made the 17th Annual PROFIT 100 ranking of Canada’s Fastest-Growing Companies by PROFIT: Your Guide to Business Success.

Ranking Canada’s Fastest-Growing Companies by five-year revenue growth, the PROFIT 100 profiles the country’s most successful growth companies. Published in the June issue of PROFIT and online at PROFITguide.com, the PROFIT 100 is Canada’s largest annual celebration of entrepreneurial achievement.

Outset Media founder and president, David Manga, says he is delighted by this latest news. Outset Media designs, manufactures, and distributes board games, card games and puzzles. It serves specialty retailers throughout Canada and the US. Manga started Outset Media in 1996 with the financial help of family members, after being turned down by the chartered banks. Nine years later, his company has a product line of more than 200 family games and puzzles.

The game company overcame its greatest obstacle in 2002, when its main distributor went bankrupt, resulting in the loss of almost one third of its 2002 revenue. Rather than going under, Outset Media overcame the challenge by expanding its product line, diversifying its revenue sources, and establishing its own distribution network.
