Teacher and Early Childhood Educator School Supply Tax Credit

Games and Puzzles Included on Teaching Supplies List
14 July 2016

According to Canada Revenue Agency, "Budget 2016 proposes to introduce a teacher and early childhood educator school supply tax credit for 2016 and subsequent taxation years. This measure will allow an employee who is an eligible educator to claim a 15% refundable tax credit based on an amount of up to $1,000 of purchases of eligible teaching supplies by the employee in a taxation year."

This is great news for teachers who want to introduce new supplies and incorporate fun learning activities into their classroom. And games and puzzles are one of the few durable goods that qualify as teaching supplies.  (Click image to see larger)

Games and puzzles are an excellent way to help teachers get kids excited about learning. With fun cooperative games like  Dragon Dash kids learn how to socialize and make critical thinking decisions.  On the creative side, games like Adventures in Storyland offer an opportunity to learn how to storytell and Create Your Own Puzzles inspires imagination in budding artists.  It's really exciting to see that the government of Canada has included games and puzzles on the supply list for teachers!  Visit your local retailer for these games and more!
